Please note that an official translation of transcripts is not sufficient for receiving transfer credits at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø – a course-by-course evaluation is required.

International Evaluations for Transfer Credit

New students accepted into degree or certificate programs who previously studied at a university outside of the United States, must submit an official course-by-course evaluation to the Academic Records office and register to attend Start Now. Your course-by-course evaluation will be evaluated for transfer credit when you attend Start Now. If you submit your official course-by-course evaluation after attending Start Now, please email us at transferservices@bhcc.edu so we can prioritize your evaluation. Please remember to include your 51³Ô¹ÏÍø student ID number in your email. Remember that you should attend Start Now even if you have not yet received transfer credit.

How does 51³Ô¹ÏÍø determine which international courses can transfer?

  • International transcripts require course-by-course evaluation by a recognized international education evaluation company. The sending institution must be authorized to grant the international equivalent of an associate or baccalaureate degree.
  • Courses have a final grade of C- or higher.
  • Courses are consistent in scope with coursework offered at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø.
  • Students must demonstrate completion of a prerequisite course with a final grade of C- (70) or higher, although some courses may have higher prerequisite requirements.
  • Transferred courses will appear on the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø transcript with a letter grade of TR. TR grades are not counted in your 51³Ô¹ÏÍø GPA (Grade Point Average) and are not used to calculate your completion rate. 51³Ô¹ÏÍø uses both completion rates and GPA to calculate your academic standing at the College.
  • Students must meet the residency requirement to earn a 51³Ô¹ÏÍø associate degree or certificate. For more information on residency requirements, please visit the College Catalog.

Additional Notes

  • While a syllabus is not required for courses to transfer, a syllabus may be requested to facilitate the transfer process. If a syllabus is not received, the student will receive elective credit as long as the guidelines outlined above have been met. Once a syllabus is submitted, the course will be re-reviewed by the Dean, Department Chair or designee in the appropriate academic department, to determine if a more appropriate transfer equivalent exists.
  • In the instance that a transfer course has a greater number of credits than the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø equivalent, additional credits may be granted as general electives, assuming contact hours are aligned.
  • Note that students applying to selective health programs should review application requirements as some programs have specific time limits. If you have questions about your transcript evaluation, email transferservices@bhcc.edu

If you have questions about your transcript evaluation, email transferservices@bhcc.edu.

*Most Canadian transcripts do not require an evaluation by a third-party service. To confirm that an evaluation is not required, please email an unofficial copy of your Canadian transcript to transferservices@bhcc.edu.
