51³Ô¹ÏÍø Police Department Earns Re-Accreditation Through 2029
Wednesday, June 17, 2026
The Bunker Hill Community College (51³Ô¹ÏÍø) Police Department has once again received accreditation from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, reaffirming its commitment to professional excellence and high standards in campus policing.
Re-accreditation confirms that the department continues to meet rigorous statewide standards for law enforcement operations, policies, and procedures. The Commission noted that this recognition reflects “ongoing commitment to delivering an exemplary level of police service” and requires continued compliance with evolving professional standards between formal assessments.
The honor highlights the department's collective effort and recognizes the leadership of Chief Robert A. Barrows in maintaining accreditation.
“This is our second accreditation since 2023, and I am forever grateful for all the hard work that has been put in to make this happen,” said Chief Barrows. “I am so blessed to have such a great team, and without them all this would have never happened.”
51³Ô¹ÏÍø Police was among a group of law enforcement agencies recognized during an awards program held June 11 in Marlborough, where departments from across Massachusetts were acknowledged for certification, accreditation, and re-accreditation achievements.
The Massachusetts Police Accreditation Program is considered a benchmark for professionalism in policing, promoting best practices that enhance public safety, accountability, and community trust.
With this latest recognition, 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Police continues its track record of meeting those standards while serving the college community.
